Tang La Ao Qu Expedition 2007: Info for Participants
Be part of a 9-day trek to 6,330m Tang La Ao Qu summit
in the Tibetan Himalayas. The award-winning executive development
company, ALTEC, in partnership with the Tibet Guide School and the
Tibet Mountaineering Association, is providing this unique leadership
development workshop from September 28-October 6, 2007.
You can't learn leadership
in a classroom.
The true test of leadership is one of character. It is revealed
by how one responds to the test of new challenges. ALTEC's Leadership
Trek series combine outdoor learning challenges with classroom simulations
and studies of profiles in courage, to inspire young leaders to
new levels of confidence and vision for themselves and their organizations.
Adversity doesn't build character, it reveals it.
This unique 9 day learning event gives participants new perspectives
on what it means to lead and how to raise self awareness to capitalize
on strengths. The event includes extensive learning on Adversity
Quotient (AQ), Visioneering and Team Leadership. It is especially
useful for senior managers or fast-track young executives who are
being groomed for senior leadership positions.
The Program
Leadership Trek '07 will focus on developing key leadership competencies
based on the work of American Business Philosopher, Dr. Peter Koestenbaum.
Koestenbaum's elegant Diamond Model of leadership focuses on four
key areas: Courage, Reality, Vision and Ethics. By leveraging these
four 'orientations' leaders grow what Koestenbaum calls the Capacity
for Greatness. ALTEC founder Chris Barclay, an experienced mountaineer
who has studied Koestenbaum and applied his theories in leadership
training in dozens of top multinational companies in China, will
be directing the classroom and outdoor learning for this special
event.
Tang La Ao Qu - 6,330m
Participants will begin their learning adventure in Lhasa, for a
day of accimitization, temple tours and classroom orientation, followed
by a 4-hour trip to Tang La Ao Qu Base Camp at 4,800m. At Base Camp,
the team will help stage the camp and receive a lecture from experienced
Mountain Guides on alpine safety. The program will progress to Advanced
Base Camp(5,450m), camp 1(6,000m) and culminate at the 6,330m summit
before returning to base camp and Lhasa for debrief, awards and
celebration dinner.
This powerful combination of experiential learning and enlightening
reading and discussion will transform participant leadership competencies.
